Meet Dr. Sarah Llyod

Background: I grew up in Manning, Iowa, with amazing parents and two equally amazing big brothers. I graduated from Manning High School and then attended Simpson College where I earned degrees in both Liberal Arts and Elementary Education with a Mathematics Endorsement. Following college I taught middle school math in various schools (Guthrie Center, Lewis Central, and Charles City) around the state of Iowa. I loved teaching, but knew it wasn’t something that I wanted to do forever.   I married my incredible husband, Tom Lloyd, III, D.C., just before we attended Parker College of Chiropractic together! We now have two children, Tommy (born August 2007) and John (born June 2009). We live in West Des Moines with our boys and our miniature schnauzer, Austin.

What brought me to chiropractic:
I wish I had a miracle chiropractic story to share, but I don’t. As my oldest brother was going to school to become a chiropractor, he shared the chiropractic story with me. The more I learned about the body’s ability to heal itself and the power of the nervous system, I knew it was something I absolutely had to be a part of.

What I like to do outside of chiropractic:
I love music of all varieties. I’m a huge fan of musicals. I can play the piano, trumpet, baritone, and flute. Although I don’t get to do enough of it, I also enjoy traveling. I’ve been all over the United States as well as trips to Canada, China and Italy.

Some things most patients don’t know about me:
All of my grandparents are still alive; what a blessing!
My husband is an awesome cook, with a Culinary Arts degree…I’m a lucky girl!
My Grandpa Max takes our family fishing in Canada every summer.
I was the prom queen! :-)
I lived in Texas for five years.
I love watching sports of all varieties, but I especially love going to hockey games.
